R&S - Font Gallery Update!!I am very happy to make an announcement today that is something that I have been eyeing suspiciously for a while and now am very relieved to see it done:
The Resource & Stock Images > Fonts gallery has been relaunched!

Now, without going into much detail, it used to be subpar. The category names were unprofessional and confusing, leading to frustrating search results and many many miscats.
Over the last month there has been a lot of work put into changing this status.
So first of all I’d like to thank ^Elandria and `Dan-Heffer who were very much in favor of the change and supported me in my endeavours to come up with a good gallery tree, despite being no experts on the topic of fonts, but giving me an outsiders input ;)

Advanced Photomanipulation month!
September is our month for advanced photomanipulation! While the activities and workshops I have in mind are geared toward developing or continuing to develop advanced skills, everyone is welcome to participate. We will all be reaching outside our comfort zone. I will be contacting some folks from each of the galleries (surreal, dark, macabre, fantasy, conceptual, etc.) who have more advanced skills and inviting them to provide feedback to help us plan the event. If you are interested, regardless of your skill level, let me know and I'll be sure to include you in the conversations. It's going to be awesome!

The sky is so often underestimated in terms of Photography that I felt compelled to give it a bit of love and talk about it in this weeks article. I've been following UK Storm Chasers on facebook who have been documenting the arrival of the 'demon child of Nadine' as it has been deemed. Hurricane Nadine is still out there in the Atlantic Ocean spinning around and preparing to send the UK another demon child (which is really just a tropical storm to us) and with it comes a plethora of opportunities to snap some stunning skies and horizons. But do we appreciate the sky enough? I don't think we do. When was the last time you stopped shooting at eye level and looked up? "Replace Fear of the Unknown with Curiosity..."
As the year crawls into the final quarter - lots of challenges and daily photo tasks and so on begin to conclude. I have personally been challenging myself with the 365 Photography challenge - a photo a day for a whole year. It has been tricky to say the least, especially as I set myself a high standard of capturing more than one Photo a day - but also rewarding. Setting yourself a challenge, whether it's following the 52 week photography challenges that are out there, or doing a themed challenge such as 365 breakfasts - is a great way of expanding on your portfolio. Whilst it sometimes means that you struggle to find anything interesting to photograph or share, on the days that you do, you're one step closer to building another aspect of your portfolio.

Weather Photography has always fascinated me - the weather in general does anyway, but capturing those changes, shifts in atmosphere and so on have always had me in awe. However when browsing the latest news within popular photography early this week I was stunned by an image that NASA had captured of hurricane Isaac as it lurked over the USA. I've been in a hurricane before, but it never felt as organised or precise as this image shows. This shows a smooth beautiful cloud formation. When below  it's likely wreaking havoc and destroying lives. It's difficult to match the two together and contemplate them as the same thing. Earlier this week I was stalking a photography forum (because it's where all the cool kids are) and I noticed somebody claiming to be a fairly professional photographer angling for information on the best mega-pixels D-SLR camera they could get in order to stabilise their images. Well anybody who knows even a tiny inkling about Photography will very quickly jump on that as most of us know full well that no matter how many megapixels you've got, they aren't worth a thing without a steady hand or more importantly a good sturdy tripod. I never was a firm believer in a tripod and even now, I rarely use it. However I use any number of things to stabilise myself when shooting whether that involves lying in a bed of flowers, resting against a wall or indeed using the nearest person (which I don't recommend - people sway!) Photography Troubleshooting: Capturing HalloweenHalloween brings with it the chance to combine many areas of Photography whether you are presented with a field of pumpkins, decorated houses, close up spooky food creations or indeed infants and children adorned in the cutest of costumes. In terms of vibrancy, fall/Autumn and Halloween combine wonderfully to create a time of color, emotion and interesting subjects. So it's often difficult to know where to start, but the key elements behind arming yourself with the camera don't differ that much from how you should behave day to day when shooting.

Halloween is about the drama and you can capture this and convey it in your images by getting in close and filling a frame with your subject. The status quo in the photomanipulation community is GO! GO! GO! We have been extremely busy with creating, supporting one another, and dreaming up contests and other fun challenges. I have been delayed in reporting our news for personal reasons, so this news article is jam-packed with goodness that you, the photomanipulation community, need to know!

We have a wonderful photomanipulation community here, and I'm really honored to serve you all as your Community Volunteer (CV). I have been trying to post weekly news, conduct interviews and do features, post DDs, organize Project Educate and other community challenges, host critique events, and hold contests that I hope are challenging and interesting. I absolutely love doing all of this, but I am also trying to get a Ph.D. and am going to run into trouble juggling it all in the Fall.

A Celebration of AgeGetting old is seen by so many as something to avoid, complain about, joke about and perhaps even ignore until it won't go away any longer. Age for many when they pass a certain milestone of years, becomes a curse or something to be ashamed of. Hair colours are constantly covered over in favour of looking young and ageless as much as possible.

Skin is constantly plastered with all manner of creams and lotions to try and prevent the rivers of life carving a niche into the flesh. Bodies are worked until they can work no longer to try and force them into retaining their youthful shape and feel but in reality we don't stop and recognise, not even for a moment - that age is beautiful.

We forget, and barely acknowledge for most of the time, that age is associated with increased diversity. You will find a more diverse people in a room of seventy year old people, than you will in a room of seventeen year old people. The wisdom, experience and attitude of
