Learn This: How to Prove you Are a TRUE Fan

Welcome to a CV project that has been years in the making. YES! Even before we knew we would be volunteers--ages before we even knew DeviantArt existed--we were working on this collection of tutorials to bring only the most refined and technologically advanced methods to your interweb doorstep.

So I was thinking I could learn y'all some epic art tips, or since we're all fans here, I thought it would be WAY more fun to show you how to prove you are a true fan (even a number 1 fan!) to anyone who questions your dedication to hot fictional characters.

I wanna prove that I'm a true fan What do I do?
1. Change your screen name.  If your screen name is not related to your fandom you have already failed because no one will be able to tell at a glance how much you love your fandom!  (Yes I am a failure Don't be me!)  And DA's taglines are just too easy to miss.  The screen name is in the big letters on your page, it's in attached to every comment you make and every fave you give.  So make it count!

Good screen names have some (or all) of the following: your favourite character's name, your OTP's name, the name of your fandom, the words "number one fan" or "ultimate fan" or "true fan", or some reference to an inside joke from that fandom.  X's at the beginning and end add double cool points.  Spelling your favourite character's name backwards is also ultra witty.  Leet however is so passe  Avoid leet.

2. Change your avatar!  If it's not your favourite character, OTP or logo/symbol from your fandom, you have failed.  A screen name without a matching avatar is just a travesty  Bonus points if you and your bff have matching avatars and screen names that refer to your OTP.  

3. Have an OTP.  If you don't know what an OTP is you are obviously not enough of a fan for this article

4. Make desktop wallpapers and phone backgrounds of your OTP.  Just adding a filter to a screenshot should be fine, don't want to over-do it now.  Gotta keep your OTP recognizable!  Oh and make sure that if anyone uses it, they credit you!  It's still your work.

5. Upload screenshots everywhere.  Use them as CSS backgrounds in your journals and on your user page.  Use them as reaction gifs.  Let everyone bask in the beauty of your fandom.  Other fans will think you are totes cool and look up to you

6. Only talk about your OTP.  You'll find other true fans like yourself this way and get to show off how much you know.  What else is there to talk about anyway?

If anyone dares question your fan authority after this, tell them THEY ARE WRONG.  Offer no explanations.  Your fandom is perfect.  Your OTP is perfect.  You are a perfect fan and they are uncultured swine.
