So I looked up the NaNoWriMo rules, and found conflicting stuff about starting your novel before the start of the mouth.
In this forum here: nanowrimo.org/forums/rules-reg… , (where there is quite a bit of emphasis on the fact that rebels don't always follow rules and there's nothing wrong with that), I saw: "Start from scratch. None of your own previously written prose can be included in your NaNoWriMo draft (though outlines, character sketches, and research are all fine, as are citations from other people's works)." Which could technically also mean that if the previously written prose is not included, it would be okay (although the tone implies otherwise.)
Then I saw this FAQ:

The forum seems to take it all a lot more lightly. I know it's more recent than the FAQ, so I wonder if that view is starting to change? Either way, I guess it's an academic discussion.
